Popular video platform YouTube may be in hot water, having been accused of violating high privacy laws by privacy activist Max Schrems.
According to Schrems and his Austrian based nonprofit & # 39; None of your business & # 39; such as YouTube, Apple, Amazon, Spotify, and even Netflix have been found in violation of EU privacy laws as set out in Article 15.
Article 15 gives users the right to request information indicating personal information from electronic services. The article requires that the platforms provide information on how the user's data is used in their systems – including whether it is shared with advertisers, and how it is stored in that platform etc.

Max Schrems takes on large platforms like Netflix, Spotify and YouTube, claiming that the companies did not comply with E.U. Data terms as set out in Article 15.
Schrems and his non-profit organization reportedly represented 10 users who submitted such requests with minimal results. Schrems argued that the companies in question did not provide all the data required by Article 15 – which could penalize them with a 4% fine over their global income.
In addition, Schrems has noted that many data requests were handled by automated services, with some sites, such as music streaming service SoundCloud and British sports video platform DZN, just ignoring requests altogether.

Popular streaming services such as YouTube and Netflix may conflict with Article 15.
Schrems argued that such automated systems are "built to withhold relevant information" and claim that companies 'refusal to provide information about users' data is a " structural violation of users' rights. "
Although YouTube has not yet published a statement on the matter, the site has expressed concern about the misapplication of Article 13, which may see major copyright issues on the platform – among many other sites.
