Woman runs into LAX asphalt, officers say she tried to flag down the plane, police say

A woman who ran onto the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport was apprehended by police Monday night.
A statement from the Los Angeles Airport Police said that the woman, who had a ticket, was in airport terminal 1 when she opened a door, triggered an alarm and entered a ramp to the asphalt.
“Airline employees who saw the woman leave the terminal, followed security protocols and maintained visual contact until the airport police arrived shortly after and arrested the woman,” the statement said.
The woman, who has not been identified, told officers that “she tried to flag down the plane,”[ads1]; the police statement said. The plane was parked at the gate.
Videos taken by a spectator appear to show the woman, who was carrying a black backpack and other objects in her arm, apparently struggling with a man who tried to lead her away from the asphalt. She can be seen trying to get away from him while waving enthusiastically to several employees of the airline.
In another video, the woman is seen standing by an officer while her purse and her belongings are searched.
The woman was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and mental health assessment, the police say.
Police said the incident did not lead to any flight delays.
