Woman accused of stealing Walmart scooter, driving down the highway to get coffee

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – Officers pulled over a woman driving a Walmart mobility scooter down a Tennessee freeway Friday morning, according to WKRN.

Sally Selby caught the attention of law enforcement around 5am while driving the motorized shopping cart in The Slow Road on Highway 127.

Selby reportedly told officers that she was heading to a Waffle House restaurant to buy a cup of coffee .

According to WTVF, the 45-year-old first told the officers that she was building the scooter, but was later arrested for theft after Walmart employees confirmed it belonged to the store.

Walmart surveillance video showed that Selby used the shop in the store before he drove it out into the parking lot, police said.

It was not clear Tuesday if Selby had to face extra costs.
