Press Days at 2019 New York International Auto Show is over. Which disclosures impressed us most and which ones left us as desired?
Subaru and Lincoln, Toyota, Acura, Cadillac and many other automotive brands made news in Manhattan this week. From subcompact transitions to luxurious sedans, three-row utility vehicles for funky-looking concepts, many important products were unveiled. Of course we had some favorites, plus some, we loved not so much, oh, even some vehicles that split the difference.

First up, the brand new 2020 Toyota Highlander. This three-row family carrier has been completely reshaped from the foundation up. Now running on a variant of the car manufacturer's ubiquitous TNGA architecture, it should provide more comfort, sophistication and features than ever before. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, for Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes things like vehicle characteristics, adaptive cruise control and more. A 295 horsepower V6 engine pulls around the main line models, but a hybrid fuel will also be offered. Petrol-powered versions of this fourth generation SUV will be on sale in December, the hybrid variant in February.
FRIENDS: 2020 Subaru Outback
Undoubtedly, one of the most significant revelations in New York this year was the 2020 Subaru Outback. Built on top of the Japanese automaker's latest global automotive architecture, this versatile SUV shell is expected to deliver superior security assessments and come with plenty of technology, including the Subaru's EyeSight Advanced Driver package. A base 2.5-liter box-four provides a respectable 182 horsepower, but for drivers who want more giddy-up, a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine is also offered. It gives a muscular 260 ponies. In typical Subaru fashion, all-wheel drive is standard as doors, exterior paint or glass windows.

WINNER: 2020 Hyundai Venue
Our latest New York Auto Show winner is it small Hyundai Venue. When this subcompact crossover goes on sale in the fourth quarter of the year, it should be the most affordable SUV in the automaker sprawling lineup. A subcompact offer you can think of as a Korean version of Nissan Kicks, an affordable and well-liked vehicle. The only engine offered on the premises (at least in America) is 1.6-liter four-cylinder, probably with about 130 horsepower. It can be matched with a standard six-speed manual transmission or an available CVT. Expect a lot of standard equipment at the venue and a variety of optional driver aids in this tiny junction.
UNDECIDED: Volkswagen Tarok
Our first undetermined New York reveals is Volkswagen Tarok, a small concept car that made its American debut in New York. It was first revealed at Sau Paolo motor show late last year. This pickup is based on VW's MQB unibody architecture and is less than 194 inches long. Despite its trim dimensions, Tarok can still draw more than you think, thanks to its innovative bed, which can be extended to the back seat, like an old Chevrolet avalanche. This concept looks good, but the problem is that Volkswagen has no plans to offer it in the United States, but apparently considering the customers' interest. If you like what you see here, you would prefer to let them know.
UNDECIDED: Genesis Mint Concept
The Next Vehicle AutoGuide.com's editors were split into a design study from Genesis, the latest South Korean luxury car brand. The Mint concept is a small, all-electric urban runabout with room for only two people, although there is a packing shelf behind the seats for stashing luggage or goods. Cleanly styled on the outside, this vehicle's cabin is just as beautiful, with lots of leather and a discreet design. Tramlines are a requirement of 200 miles (322 km), which seems quite low, but again, in dense metropolises where this car is to be used which is probably more than enough. Genesis has no plans to offer a production version of the Mint concept, not least.

UNDECIDED: 2020 Cadillac CT5 [19659023] Next up, our last indefinite selection is Cadillac CT5, a brand new sedan from GM's long-standing luxury division . Based on a rear-wheel drive architecture, motivated by a turbocharged four or twin-turbo V6 and even available with the brand's outstanding Super Cruise system, there is absolutely a lot to be found here. But there are also some things that leave, shaking our heads, like the general proportions. Does anyone else see some Chevy Cruze in that roof line? Cadillac also introduces a new way of distinguishing between drive strokes by noting each engine's torque recordings in Newton meters and rounding off to the nearest 50. Confused? You should be.
LOSER: 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel
As for losers, our first Mazda CX-5 diesel is an unexpected choice. Yes, we love this crossover's exclusive interior and good roads, but the compression-igniting engine has had more delays than American Airlines running out of Chicago's Hare during a blizzard. The culprit is an extremely cautious 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D device that provides an estimated 168 horsepower and 290 pound feet of torque. In addition, this engine comes at a time when diesel is under intense control for its less than immaculate reputation. As the competition moves with hybrids and electric motors, the CX-5 feels a bit behind the curve.
LOSER: 2020 Acura TLX PMC Edition
The next LOSER on this list is Acura TLX PMC Edition, a handmade sports note that is much more sizzle than steak. Unexpectedly, it was built in Ohio at the company's Performance Manufacturing Center, the AKA factory where the NSX supercar is mounted. Perhaps this sport's only real standout feature is its live paint job. The current color is called Valencia Red Pearl and was previously reserved exclusively for NSX. All in all, it takes five days to paint one of these TLXs and they undergo the same hand control process given to Acura's exotic. The production of PMC Edition is capped at just 360 examples. They will be priced at around $ 50,000 piece and should go on sale this summer.

LOSER: 2020 Nissan 370Z 50 th Anniversary edition
Packaging of things, Nissan 370Z 50 th Anniversary Edition is our latest New York Auto Show LOSER. Yes, this car is fun to drive, and yes the vintage-inspired racing look looks incredibly cool, but the current Z is so old at this point you can almost hear the legs squeaking while just looking at pictures of one. Such an important and venerable name tag deserves so much more for its 50 th birthday than any two-tone paint and some bolt-on parts. C, boys, give us a brand new Z!
