Will there be a recession in 2023? Economists say it is likely.

- The economy appears to be on solid footing, with strong job growth.
- But the warning signs are increasing.
- Economists surveyed by Wolters Kluwer Blue Chip Economic Indicators say there is a 54% chance of a recession next year.
When it’s still sunny and mild, it’s hard to imagine a winter storm in the distance.
But it will come.
The economy is still apparently on solid footing. Job growth remains solid. Consumer and business expenses have held their own despite historically high inflation and sharply rising interest rates.
