Wilbur Ross is optimistic about trade, says Huawei sales licenses are coming soon

U. S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said on Sunday that licenses for US companies to do business with China's Huawei Technologies Inc. are "coming soon" and expressed optimism about a US-China trade agreement. Speaking to Bloomberg Television in Bangkok, Thailand, when attending the ASEAN Summit, Ross said that although it was possible, the "phase one" agreement might not be ready to be signed this month, "We are in good shape, we're making good progress, and there's no natural reason why it couldn't be. "Ross offered Iowa, Hawaii and Alaska as possible sites for a meeting of President Donald Trump and Xi Jinping to sign the deal. Ross told Bloomberg that 260 US companies had applied for licenses to sell to Huawei. "There are many uses ̵

1; it's honestly more than we thought," he said. The US blacklist Huawei in May, and has postponed the issue of licenses to do business with it since the summer. In July, Trump said the licensing process would be "timely".
