Widespread Xfinity cable, Internet outages reported across Bay Area – CBS San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A major Xfinity cable and Internet outage was reported across the Bay Area on Monday night, affecting a large portion of the Bay Area.
The website DownDetector.com showed an increase in Xfinity outages reported just before noon. 22.00. More than 24,000 people reported the power outage, according to the website, but violent complaints on social media indicated that the power outage was far more widespread, affecting customers in San Francisco and the Peninsula, East Bay and North Bay.

The power outage was widespread enough that the Marin County Sheriff tweeted a reminder to residents not to call 9-1[ads1]-1 to report or complain about the Internet outage and instead contact their provider.
There are reports of internet breaches throughout Marin and Sonoma County.

There were reports that customers saw Internet and cable services return just before 11 p.m.

So far, Xfinity / Comcast has not provided any information about the cause of the power outage.
