Recently I had a dilemma. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I have made my heart and mind to buy a Tesla. 3 and Y fit both my needs very well. I decided to write down the pros and cons for 3 vs Y, and the Standard Range (SR) vs. Long Range (LR) for each. I created two summary tables, one called Positives and another called Considerations. If I missed someone, please let me know in the comments below.
Between 3 and Y, which gives more meaning? It depends on the old economist's crutch. If you want to buy a Tesla right away, 3 is the better choice because of immediate availability and US federal tax incentives. Y will arrive for 18 to 24 months, and longer for international sales.
Are you ok with less space or do you want a larger vehicle? The larger one has the ability to place multiple people and have a tailgate. 3 compensates for its smaller size by having more range, higher top speed and better acceleration from 0 km / h to 60 mph.
When you decide which type of Tesla to buy, choose an SR or LR trim? I want to say it depends on see above ). It depends on your budget, how often you drive long distances, if you live in a cold climate, and how long you plan to keep your car. If you have more budget, need to drive longer distances more often, live in a colder climate, or plan to keep your vehicle for a long time, LR is your best bet. This ignores all the benefits someone Tesla has over a similar luxury gas / diesel combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.
