What should I do when 911 is down and you have an emergency

It doesn't happen often, but 91[ads1]1 services can go down. Currently, the 911 service is down across several states in the United States following a massive disruption to a CenturyLink data center. While some of the initially excluded cities are already underway, others are still down.

Store local emergency numbers on the phone
It is always a good idea to look up local emergency numbers and store them on your phone before ] an actual crisis hit. Although the 911 is not down, some circuits can be overloaded and a conversation can take longer to recover than you want.
Store emergency numbers in your phone now (while you probably don't have an emergency) make sure you have them ready when you need them.
It is obviously not sensible to list all the local emergency numbers here, but a quick Google search should retrieve the emergency services numbers in your area.
911 is always the best place to start (unless it's down, of course). In addition, store the number of local police and fire stations and hospitals on the phone as something like "Emergency – Police" or "Emergency – Fire" to make them easy to find later.
While in it, it's not a bad idea to go ahead and save some non-emergency numbers as well. As someone who has had to search for who to call when my neighbors threw at 4:00 am or how to get the truck to block our driveway, it's much easier to make these calls if you have the number already stored and ready to go .
