Warren Buffett says Berkshire Hathaway buys up Amazon shares

Berkshire Hathaway buys Amazon shares, according to a CNBC report published Thursday.

Warren Buffett, Berkshire's Chairman and CEO, did not directly buy Amazon shares.

The shares were bought by "one of the friends in the office managing money", Buffett told CNBC, who said Buffett may have referred to investment managers Todd Combs or Ted Weschler, both of whom have large portfolios containing Berkshire holdings.

But for his part, Buffett stated some regrets not to act earlier on the e-commerce giant.

"Yes, I've been a fan, and I've been an idiot not to buy," Buffett said, referring to Amazon shares. "But I want you to know that there are no personality changes happening."

Buffett often reported the comment one day before Berkshire Hathaway's annual general meeting in Omaha, Nebraska. Berkshire's shares are expected to be disclosed in real estate information to the Securities and Exchange Commission in May.

Buffett was generally known to be unfavorable to technical stocks. He has changed the course in recent years and has made some glowing remarks about some of the stand-out tech companies.

"The truth is I've seen Amazon from the beginning, and I think what Jeff Bezos has done is something near a miracle," Buffett said at the annual meeting in 2018. "And the problem is whether I think anything I'm going to be a miracle, I don't usually bet on it. "

" I've missed things that were within my circle and it's a terrible mistake, "Buffett said in a Yahoo Finance interview on Wednesday. "It's my biggest mistake, you haven't seen them. But it's not a mistake because I miss Netscape or something like that."
