Walmart, Costco, Target, Best Buy, Macy’s
The majority of large retailers will keep their stores closed on Thanksgiving for the second year.
Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and JCPenney – which for years opened for personalized Black Friday shopping during the holidays – are all closed on Thursday.
Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club and Apple have traditionally been closed on public holidays.
Selected grocery stores across the country are open on Thursdays, but most will have limited opening hours. (See the list of grocery stores that are open and those that are closed on Thursdays.)
Like last year, to curb crowds and spread demand, retailers began launching deals before Halloween and have turned a weekend shopping flash into an expanded event.

Due to state laws, stores in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island will be closed on Thanksgiving. Stores in some areas also have varied opening hours due to county or municipal laws.

Walmart on Thanksgiving: Closed for other years
Until 2020, Walmart stores have not closed on Thanksgiving since the late 1980s. Months into the July 2020 pandemic, the world’s largest retailer announced that its stores would be closed due to the holidays. In June, Walmart announced that stores would be closed for Thanksgiving 2021.
Walmart opens Friday at 5 a.m. for the Black Friday sale in the store.

Target closed on Thanksgiving for good
Goal announced Monday that Thanksgiving Day is closing permanently. The shops open at 07.00 Black Friday.
Target is the first major retailer to make such a permanent move during the pandemic, and the decision could push other retailers to follow suit, says Ken Perkins, president of Retail Metrics, a retail analytics firm.

GameStop opens at 5pm Thanksgiving with some PS5 packages
If you’re looking for a PlayStation 5, GameStop may be an option to find it in stores. Many retailers, including Walmart, sell PS5 and Xbox Series X online.
Many GameStop locations are open from 5pm to 9pm Thanksgiving, but other locations are closed until Friday morning.
At a GameStop in Coral Springs, Florida, a sign on the door said the site had 11 PS5 packs selling for $ 789.95, including the console, $ 100 GameStop gift card, PlayStation Plus 12-month membership and three games.
Nick Reed arrived at the store around 2 a.m. Thanksgiving morning and was first in line. Reed, from Coral Springs, said he has been trying to get Sony’s latest console since last year.
“I could have come here around 5 and still be the first,” Reed said.
Alessio Sincore from Tamarac, Florida, arrived at GameStop at 6:30 a.m. after missing out on PS5 during online sales at Best Buy and Walmart. He said it was the first time he had lined up for a Black Friday sale, and that he expected to see larger audiences like on TV.
Costco, Home Depot, Lowe have closed Thanksgiving
For these retailers, Thanksgiving Day closures are not a new concept, but a holiday tradition. Costco is also closed for other holidays, including New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Macy’s Thanksgiving parade features Toys R Us’ Geoffrey
Macy’s is closed for Thanksgiving, but it had its annual holiday parade on Thursday. This year, Geoffrey, the Toys R Us mascot, joined the festivities.
In August, the department store chain and Toys R Us announced that they had joined forces to open toy stores in more than 400 department stores across the country from 2022. Toys R Us is now also for sale on Macy’s website.
The Macy’s stores open at 06.00 Black Friday.

Many gas station stores will be open as usual on Thursday. Check with your store before you go out. Due to state laws, you can expect stores in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island to remain closed on Thanksgiving.
