Walmart announces temporary closure of Richardson location – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Walmart has announced that the retail giant will temporarily close its Richardson store on Friday.
According to Walmart, the 1501 Buckingham Road location will close at 14.00 as part of a company-initiated program to allow third-party cleaning crews to clean and sanitize the building.
The location will remain closed through Jan. 8 to give store employees time to fill shelves and prepare the store, Walmart said.
The Richardson location will reopen Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. 06.00
In a statement, the company did not specifically say why this store was chosen for cleaning, nor did they want to confirm whether the store was cleaned because a high number of employees were positive about COVID-1[ads1]9. No other Walmart locations in North Texas are expected to be closed and cleaned, according to a company representative.
Walmart said the company understands the role it plays in providing customers in the Richardson community with food, medicine and other important things, especially at this time.
“Everything we do is for the well-being of our employees and the thousands of customers we serve daily, and taking into account guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Health Experts,” Walmart officials said in a statement. “We will follow the CDC guidelines, which include fully vaccinated individuals who wear masks in public indoor environments in counties with significant or high infection.”
According to Walmart, in those high-transfer counties where there are state or local mesh mandates, employees will be required to wear masks inside the facilities, including shops, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers.
When the store reopens Sunday, Walmart will continue to conduct health assessments of associated employees, and all unvaccinated employees will still need to wear face covers, the company said.
Walmart said the store offers covid-19 vaccines to customers through walk-in or online appointments, as well as easy access to vaccines for employees.
Employees can receive their vaccinations at the pharmacy in the home store, on or off the clock, Walmart said. They will be given two hours of paid leave to be vaccinated and up to three days of paid leave if they experience a side effect.
Walmart announced Friday that another store in Texarkana would close Friday at 2 p.m. as part of the same company-initiated cleaning program.
A Walmart location in Uptown Dallas was previously closed from December 30 to December 31 to be cleaned and sanitized. The Dallas Neighborhood Market, located at 2305 North US 75-Central Expressway, reopened Jan. 1.
