VW's ID all-electric hatchback, the Volkswagen Group's first electric vehicle based on the MEB platform for volume production, will be available through pre-order on May 8, and the production version will be unveiled in September. The company's board made the announcement at their annual meeting today – along with several other new initiatives.
They said that the production version of the ID will be presented at the IAA in September, but "customers can pre-order the launch of the ID from May 8."
Director of Sales, Jürgen Stackmann, was optimistic about opening pre-orders:
"Given the interest in the ID family shown by our dealers, I think it is possible that the launch edition has already sold before we reveal the ID in September,"
More information about ID is expected to be released then, but VW has already released some important features over the past year.
Stackmann earlier said that the vehicle comes to Europe at the end of 201
While the vehicle is expected to start at less than $ 30,000 and have "up to 550 km" of range, these specifications could be for the basic version and the best version.
Christian Senger, VW's product line for E-Mobility product line, recently said the vehicle will be offered in 3 battery configurations.
The other two versions are expected to have a WLTP area of about 330 km and 450 km.
Other information that has leaked in recent months includes the capability of 7.2 kW and 11 kW on-board cargo chargers and the DC fast-charge capacity will support up to 125 kW of charge.
