Video showing woman trapped in the door, drawn on train tracks in San Francisco
San Francisco officials promise a full investigation after a frightening video was released, showing that a woman caught her finger in a closed train door and pulled on the tracks under the train.
In the surveillance video, the woman can be seen on the stairs at the city's Embarcadero station on April 12 when she tries to get on the Muni train when the doors are closed. It looks as if her hand is stuck in the door when it closes. She can be seen talking to an employee standing on the platform just yards away, but the train is moving and she is pulled off the platform and under the train.
The woman was allegedly injured, but officials have not said how serious.
The video was first purchased by the San Francisco Examiner.

The state is now investigating the safety of the doors."The door closed with less than half an inch between the door and the door stop when she reached her hand in the door," said Paul Rose, spokesman for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, in an interview with San Francisco ABC station KGO.
SFMTA, which operates the train line, recently purchased new Muni train cars, including the one involved in the accident.
"These trains and doors are safe," Rose said. "They operate as the design, they were certified by CPUC [California Public Utilities Commission] and they have been through six months of testing before putting them into use."
The CPUC has said it will examine the doors and pin system according to KGO.
"I heard shouting behind me, and I didn't know what happened, but it was a riot and I was frightened," says eyewitness Will Hayworth to KGO. "She was trying to keep up with this train, and this new Muni car pulled her with her hand … People shouted," Stop! "and a couple of people threw on the car themselves, shouting, stopping, stopping, there's someone trapped."
"She stopped, but was still dragged," he continued. "The car didn't go slow at all. Basically, it didn't seem like the operator had any idea of what happened."

April 2019.Matt Haney, San Francisco District 6's supervisor, which includes the Embarcadero region, said this is not the first time he has heard complaints about door problems – including from SFMTA employees.
"There must obviously be some different sensors on the doors or in a way for riders to be able to see it differently," Haney said. "My understanding is that some of the operators actually flagged that this was a problem and they were worried about it."
