Verizon, South Korea Launch Smartphone 5G

The 5G Smartphone era began on Wednesday, giving the world's first glimpse of what the powerful network technology can offer consumers and how much speed upgrades will cost.

Verizon Communications Inc. launched 5G wireless service in parts of Chicago and Minneapolis on Wednesday, one week before scheduled start date, while carriers in South Korea distributed their service in the Seoul metropolitan area the same day.
