Authorities are searching for two people who robbed a United States Postal Service employee at gunpoint in Melrose, Massachusetts. The US Postal Inspection Service said USPS letter carriers were delivering mail in the Orchard Lane area when they were approached by two armed suspects around 3 a.m. pm Saturday. According to USPIS, the suspects brandished a gun and robbed the mail carrier before fleeing on foot. “She’s very nice, very friendly. Sometimes she gives the dogs treats when she comes to the door,” said a man who lives in the neighborhood where the robbery happened happened. “She̵[ads1]7;s been our carrier for years. I see her every day. I heard she was about two weeks away from retirement.” The case is being investigated by the US Postal Inspection Service and the Melrose Police Department. Armed robbery of a USPS employee is a federal offense punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
