- Samsung's new wireless earbuds are here
- Galaxy Buds Live has a unique design and offers a number of new features
- Samsung will sell them for less than the price of other earbuds, even those without ANC
Samsung recently announced new devices and accessories, which include a unique pair of wireless earbuds called Galaxy Buds Live.
The new Galaxy Buds Live, which Samsung said will be available starting Thursday, is a unique audio accessory in that it comes in a shape that no other earplug has. It also comes packed with a number of new features that are meant to take on Apple's AirPods Pro and a price that is meant to compete with the other major players in the truly wireless stereo headphone market, including Sony and Bose.
Here is a quick overview of the new wireless earbuds and why consumers should consider getting it now.
Samsung proudly said that Galaxy Buds Live "defies conventional design" by using "one-of-a-kind aesthetics," and it does not lie. The new earplugs have a kidney bean shape designed to fit snugly into the user's ear. It has two sizes of wingtips that allow users to choose the right fit for themselves.
The earplugs have no protruding part like AirPods and AirPods Pro. They are not bulky unlike some of Sony and Bose's offerings. A website dedicated to the device shows that it remains nicely hidden in the user's ear and may not even be noticed from other angles.
However, Galaxy Buds Live's sleek design makes them stand out from the user's ear. It has a few microphone slots that will be used for the device's active noise canceling function.
When we talk about noise canceling, Samsung says that the earbuds use "the first Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for open type." It is interesting to see how the function works, primarily because the device does not offer passive isolation. (It does not use ear tips and does not have an over-ear design.)
The company said that the feature "reduces background noise without missing out on important things, such as voices and announcements." All it takes to use the feature, add it, is a long press.
Samsung said that the earplugs have 12 mm speakers, and the sound has been set by AKG. The company assures users that it offers spacious sound, deep bass and a sound that flows "seamlessly."
Battery and IP rating
Galaxy Buds Live can last up to eight hours on a single charge, with the ANC turned off. By turning on the ANC, it falls to six-hour peaks. The charging floor extends the battery life for a total of 21 hours with the ANC switched on.
The device is IPX2 rated for splash and sweat resistance. It is not waterproof, but can withstand splashes at an angle, CNet noted.
Now here is the most interesting detail. Samsung will sell the new Galaxy Buds Live for only $ 170. This price includes the earbuds and a wireless charging bag, plus all the features above and more. Buyers can get it in three colors: Mystic White, Mystic Black and the new Mystic Bronze finish.
