New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is set to make remarks at the annual summer meeting of the bipartisan National Governors Association.

Cuomo, who is deputy head of the organization, will speak practically from Albany.

Republican Gov. Larry Hogan of Maryland, the current NGA leader, is expected at the meeting to hand over the leadership of the association to Cuomo, a Democrat. The government of Asa Hutchinson, an Arkansas Republican, is scheduled to become deputy leader.

Cuomo, whose state was previously considered the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, has been among the most vocal and visible leaders throughout the crisis. More Covid-1

9 deaths have been recorded in New York than in any other state.

More than 4.78 million coronavirus cases, as well as at least 157,266 deaths, have been confirmed in the United States, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
