US stocks fall after Labor Day Weekend
US stock indexes fell on Tuesday, driven by expectations of tighter Federal Reserve policy and an energy crisis in Europe.
The S&P 500 fell 0.7% after the long Labor Day weekend, following a turbulent session on Friday that dragged major indexes lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also fell 0.7%, while the technology-focused Nasdaq Composite lost 1%. The major indexes have all fallen for three consecutive weeks.
