US shares focus on Fed rate decision
The world's two largest economies have imposed thousands of dollars on each other's goods over the past year. They have hit financial markets and souring business and consumer sentiment.
Meanwhile, the US central bank is expected to keep rates steady later in the session, with investors monitoring a decision on the Fed's forecasts for the next few years.
In Asia, MSCI's widest index for Asia-Pacific shares, excluding Japan, went 0.4 percent.
No financial data is expected on Wednesday, but on the earnings front, General Mills is set to report its results before the clock and Williams-Sonoma will report after the clock.
