Flight No. 1168 came from Newark when officials said the engine was burned before entering Houston just before. 10.30.
Several passengers described the moments when they noticed something was wrong under the plane.
"I noticed when we entered the Houston airport, I heard noises that I don't usually hear when I fly," said passenger Leonard Weiner.
Weiner said the captain came on the plane and told everyone to evacuate.
Chris Morrison said he swallowed when he suddenly heard a loud bang that woke him up. He said he saw a light of light out of the window.
"People started to panic. Everyone was pushing the airplane," Morrison said.
Passengers jumped out of the plane in emergency light, and they stayed on the asphalt in half an hour before being sent to United Club.
United Airlines issued a statement to the eyewitness about the incident:
"United flight 1
No injuries were reported.
An investigation is ongoing.
