PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Union Pacific says two locomotives and three tankers containing liquefied petroleum gas derailed in Portland Saturday morning hit and snapped a support beam into an overpass that gives access to a large industrial area.
The company says there were no injuries and none of the thoughts leaked in the derailment that happened around 9:20 pm Saturday. Crews are working to get the locomotives and tankers back on track.
Portland Bureau of Transportation spokesman Dylan Rivera says North Going Street is closed until city engineers determine how much damage the transition has caused. It is not clear when the road can open again.
The road provides access to Swan Island, a large industrial area in the city with many workers.
