Two leading Uber leaders leave the company after internal shakeup
Uber shares its ways with its top operating manager and marketing manager less than a month after the company's rocky stock market debut.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told employees in an e-mail Friday that he was planning to be more involved today – Today's operation now that the first public offering of shares has gone. He said Barney Harford, chief operator and Rebecca Messina, marketing manager, was leaving.
"It's never the right time to announce departures or changes like this, but with the IPO behind us I felt this was a good moment to simplify org and set us up for the future," Khosrowshahi said in an email to employees, seen by The Washington Post.
The heads of the company's global rides and food suppliers will now report directly to Khosrowshahi. The CEO also said he was planning to combine the marketing, communications, and policy teams.

"It's increasingly clear that it is crucial for us to have a consistent, unified story to consumers, partners, the press, and policemen," he said.
Harford thanked Khosrowshahi in a tweet Friday
"Thank you Dara Khosrowshahi for the opportunity over the last couple of years, and thanks to the wider team Uber for being such an incredible & inspiring team to work with," wrote Harford. "It has been an honor."
The San Francisco-based company's stock has been fighting since its first public offering last month, with strong sales growth in the first quarter as a public company, but also a loss of NOK 1[ads1] billion. 1.7%, at $ 44.16 It was announced at $ 45 per share.

Harford was appointed COO in December 2017. Harford ran into some trouble in the post after he was accused of making quick insensitive comments, The Washington Post reported. Uber spokesman Noah Edwards told The Washington Post that Harford's departure was not related to the probe.
Messina was hired by Uber last year. Khosrowshahi announced that Jill Hazelbaker, the company's senior vice president of politics and communications, was promoted.
"Our brand continues to be challenged," Khosrowshahi said in the email.
