Twitter employees are blindly flooding with bad reviews of Elon Musk
- Twitter employees post bad reviews about the company and Elon Musk on the anonymous forum Blind.
- One person called Musk a “brutal decision maker.” Another said he has “no idea” what he’s doing.
- One user said management caused “stress”.
Twitter employees flood employee forum Blind with bad – and some good — reviews about the company and its new CEO, Elon Musk.
Insider trawled through the community app, where employees can anonymously write reviews and post about their workplaces, to see what Twitter employees are saying about the company.
Twitter laid off thousands of employees on Friday as Elon Musk completed his $44 billion takeover of the platform. After laying off nearly half of the Twitter workforce, Musk tweeted on Friday that there was “no choice” as the company was losing more than $4 million a day.
Blind requires users to provide their job email address, the company they work for and their job title when signing up. The site does not verify employment, but asks that people use their job posting to “gauge the professional status” of users, Blind’s website says.
Users have posted a total of 953 Twitter reviews on the site since 2020, and the company has an overall star rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars. Each poster adds a star rating to the review. Some of the reviews were posted the day some employees found out about the mass layoffs the next morning, but most are from earlier.
A poster who described himself as an engineering manager said Wednesday: “Brutal decision-maker at the helm. Contingency-driven work is exciting for those who like excitement. Pay is no longer tied to fluctuations in the stock market.”
The anonymous poster, who gave Twitter two stars, added: “The absolute and rapid destruction of a compassionate, humane corporate culture leaves Tweeps feeling like we’ve lost our family.”
Another user, who posted on the day the company sent employees a memo announcing the layoffs, said it was “fine until Elon took over.”
The self-described senior software developer listed getting to “work for Elon” as a “pro” of working at the company, then put being treated like a “work robot” on an accompanying list of “cons.”
“Sense of accomplishment in delivering mission-critical projects with 24/7 work and sleeping in the office,” the post reads.
A Twitter employee tweeted a photo of an executive sleeping in the office this week after Musk took over. Musk announced plans to launch new product features, including an $8 confirmation subscription.
A software engineer said on Nov. 2 that before the company was taken private, it was an “incredible” place to work.
They added: “Elon mom is flipping Musk and his ego the size of Mars. Twitter is already chaos but when layoffs come Friday it will be a massive dumpster fire. The man has no idea what he’s doing and I will bet $8 Twitter wins” won’t be available or relevant in a couple of years.”
It is not possible to say which of these posters, if any, were taken down.
Another Blind user wrote on Thursday that the management changes are creating “stress” as a result of people being fired or quitting.
Twitter did not respond to Insider’s request for comment.
