Nationally, the Transport Security Administration shows that they have to shield 4% more travelers between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends than they did in the same period last year, which set a record.

Last summer, TSA said there were more than 5.3 million departures on Hawaii's five commercial airports, including 2.9 million at Daniel K. Inouye Honolulu International Airport.
