Layoffs hit several news this week, which resulted in the loss of about 1000 jobs in the media industry, according to CNN.
BuzzFeed cuts about 15 percent of the workforce, or over 200 employees, and Verizon, who owns HuffPost, Yahoo and AOL, said it would take 7 percent of workers in their digital media operation, or about 800 jobs. Gannett will also work on his newspapers nationwide.
BuzzFeed was recently investigated after he reported that Trump directed his long-standing lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. However, history led to a rare statement by Specialist Robert Mueller, whose office said the article was "not accurate."
Trump often calls the press, referring to outlets as "false news" and accusing journalists of settling sources and quotes.
