The President made the statement while praising the achievements of the economy during his time at the White House, claiming that the United States had the best economy in the world right now. He later predicted that the markets would crash if he were to lose the 2020 presidential election.

Trump's comments come in the midst of an escalating US-China trade war, and stock markets are suffering a sharp fall. On Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 800 points, the worst slide in 2019.
The slide came after the yield on 10-year government bonds fell below that of 2-year bonds – an economic marker that often predicts recessions.
Trump on Thursday accused the news media of trying to hurt the economy, claiming the press was doing it to damage his reelection prospects.
"The problem they have is that the economy is too strong and that we will soon win big on trade, and everyone knows that, including China," Trump tweeted.
