Tough Chips Ahoy cakes recall due to "unexpectedly solidified ingredient"

The announcement says there have been reports of possible negative health effects. Mondelēz has not responded to a request for further comment.

Mondelēz said the recall extends across the country and applies to Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies with a "best when used by" date 7, 8, 14 and 15 September. These dates can be found at the top of the left side of the package, near the lifting tab. The package has a retail UPC at 0 44000 03223 4.

No other Chips Ahoy products are affected by the recall.
