Too much Tesla News – 7 More stories

Comprises the novelty often of digging in the details of the latest developments in the cleantech space, which can often result in the wider topic of progress in the cleantech space being lost. Reader and Friend of CleanTechnica Dominic suggested that we write a chronicle of news in the cleantech world to mark not only today's hottest stories, but the broader themes played out in space. We planned to try it. This article, however, is about Tesla. What can we say ̵[ads1]1; Tesla does news.
Head of Head Charging Battle: Audi e-throne vs Tesla. Winner: Tesla ( via Reddit )
In a Reddit titled "The best ad for Tesla is my experience with the Audi e-throne", a user wrote about his experience driving 260 miles in an Audi e-tron quattro 55, including a few attempts to use public DC-fast charging. The test station highlighted how easy to have the same number of places to charge on a map such as the Tesla Supercharging network, not translated into a similar charging capacity.
The Redditor drove into single-outlet stations that were full and broken chargers, and finally gave and provided kudos to Tesla for a well-thought-out charging network and charging density. It's not just having a charging station, it's about having enough charging stations, in the right places, for the proper charging speed.
(Further, Matt Joyce from Loup Ventures summarizes the second half of the problem in a nice little chart .)
Tesla Increases Referral Program Bonus 5 times
The Tesla referral program has been a controversial part of the company's strategy. It has allowed YouTubers, celebrities and enthusiasts to win hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes in just a few short months by getting others to use the referral link to buy a Tesla. The company has since reviewed the program, and this week launched an updated program that increases the bonus 5 times.
The new program provides buyers using a referral link 5,000 miles of free charge, but only through May 28. At that time, not only do you lose extra Supercharging miles, Full Self Driving will have gone up in price. Based on all the twittering action coming from Elon, the FSD is expected to rise in price another $ 1,000 around May 10. I don't share my referral code often, but please use it if you want to buy a new Tesla or Tesla Solar system.
Teslas Advanced Summon Wows Spectators, but Needless to Need More Work ( via Reddit )
Teslas Advanced Summon is the latest hot tech that comes from Tesla. It allows owners to call their cars from across the parking lot. This can be some of the first technologies from Tesla that take the car to the next level and make it feel like it's really from the future.
Advanced Summon is still very limited to a selection of Early Access program users, but a new video appeared on YouTube which goes a little deeper into the solution, including how the Tesla app works. It's fun to see, if only just to see that people around the car do a physical double-headed while the car drives past them with no one in the driver's seat.
Tesla Kills Competition ( via Reddit )
The Tesla Model 3 hits the sweet spot in the mid-sized luxury vehicle, and also draws many buyers from a cheaper vehicle segment into a Tesla. The regular media paints Tesla as a niche player, but over the past few months, this has resulted in a significant shift from historic leaders such as the BMW 3 Series and Toyota Prius. Furthermore, Tesla Model 3 has risen above them.
Tesla Model 3 crushes all competitors.
BMW 3 Series: US Sales Down 40% in 2019
Toyota Prius: US Sales Down 45% 2019Both cars are among the most popular residents of new model 3 customers.
– Kevin Rooke (@kerooke) ] April 29, 2019
In 2019, US sales of the BMW 3 series are down 40% and the sale of the Toyota Prius is down 45%. The crazy part about it is that the $ 35,000 Standard Range Model 3 just came out. Factor in federal, state and local rebates, and at or below the cost of many cars selling for $ 10,000 + less.
More and more buyers are asking why they would pay more to own a Toyota, BMW, Acura or Mercedes when they can have a Tesla with lower environmental footprint, faster acceleration and more fun in each drive for less money.
To stay away from US sales and Tesla sales, be sure to check out our regular thorough reports on these topics.
Tesla Navigate-on-Autopilot navigates on Customs boats and Freeway Interchanges
Tesla Autopilot solution is enhanced with each software update, but it is hard to break up every step-by-step update as part of the entire solution. A new video from the only Frunkpuppy (@ 28dayslater) shows the solution to the job on a highway interchange-plus-tollbooth combination.
I've never taken out #Tesla #Tesla # Autopilot throughout this video clip. Unreal. Going through tollbooth # model3 #navOnAP #winning pic.twitter.com/1sfVImrO39

Niche scenarios such as customs booths are just one piece of the puzzle for Tesla to solve as its neural network continues to add ability to run in even more scenarios. The world is complex, and it is the solution that must navigate safely. In this case, Autopilot handles another thing as a master and dreams out on the other side of the Customs boat, which is eager to gobble up several freeways.
Tesla Autopilot Accident Avoidance
Tesla Autopilot avoids single-day driver accidents, makes cars safer and lighter. Frankly, even at best, getting into an accident is a pain in the buttocks – and Autopilot helps you avoid it. Millenialgirlinamaterialworld ( yes, amazing Twitter name ) tweeted out that Autopilot just saved her from a major accident. We don't get more information than that, but it's just one new data point that supports Autopilot and avoids accidents and keeps people safe.
Autopilot on #Tesla RETTE saved me from being in a major accident. After my heart stops racing and I download the footage, I'll post more.

Drifting Tesla Model S
Ok, so it's not cleantech, but it looks like a lot of fun. This Tesla model S has found a way to override the built-in traction control and cause the car to break traction for a bit of drift. It looks a little tricky as you can imagine when driving a car programmed from the factory to be an absolute trainer.
