- Apple revealed that CEO Tim Cook was paid $ 15,682,219 in 2018 in a SEC filing.
- It doesn't include $ 121 million in Apple stock last year.
- Median Apple employees make up $ 55,426.
- Many Apple employees work in their stores and with AppleCare support, and they are involved in the calculation of median employee compensation.
It's good to be Apple's CEO Tim Cook.
The head of the iPhone giant made over $ 1[ads1]5 million in 2018, according to a new filing with the SEC.
It includes a base salary of $ 3 million, $ 12 million in incentives to hit performance and sales targets, and $ 294,082 to pay for Cook's private jet fare.
It does not include the massive stock deposits that Apple also gives to its CEO as part of a 2011 grant. Cook purchases in $ 121 million in inventory listed earlier this year. Cook still has over 1.5 million Apple shares that have not won, worth about $ 189 million to the current share price.
Apple also revealed on Tuesday how much money the median employee makes: $ 55,426. That means Apple's 132,000 total employees make half less than that, and half do more. Many Apple employees work in their stores and with AppleCare, and they are part of the median liability compensation.
For example, Facebook's median employees make considerably more: Over $ 240,000 a year. But Facebook does not have dealers or call center workers.
Cook's compensation, which does not count its limited share, is 283 times what the median Apple employee does, according to the application. Other Apple executives were also well paid last year. Finance director Luca Maestri, Secretary General Kate Adams, retail manager Angela Ahrendts, and COO Jeff Williams all made over $ 26 million each, according to SEC filing.
"We believe that the compensation for our named leaders in 2018 reflects and rewards their contribution to our performance," said Apple in the filing.
In 2015, Cook said he plans to give his entire fortune to charity. 2018, he donated nearly $ 5 million in Apple stock to an unspecified charity, according to a SEC filing.
