This dad could not miss Christmas with his airline daughter, so he bought six air tickets to be with her.
It must be depressing to be at work while friends and family members are celebrating their vacation, but it is a fairly common occurrence in America. According to USA Today, around 25% of Americans have to work on either Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's Day.
A father from Ohio went to incredible lengths to spend her Christmas Eve with the day, even though she was at work. What made it even more amazing was that she was 30,000 feet in the sky.
Pierce Vaughan, Delta Airlines airline, had to work from December 24 to 25, so her father, Hal, bought six-plane tickets just so he could be right next to her.
The news quickly became viral after Mike Levy, a man sitting next to Hal on a flight from Fort Myers, Florida to Detroit Michigan, shared a photo on Facebook. The post has received over 177,000 likes and 35,000 shares.
"I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my plane home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas," wrote Levy on Facebook. Hal decided that he would spend the holidays with her. Then he flies on each of his flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a wonderful father! Do you both want a very Merry Christmas! "
What is even more amazing is that Hal has recently recovered from a back and neck injury that left him temporarily paralyzed." He still recovered from a neck injury from earlier this year, which had left him quadriplegic for a period, " said Levy to CNN. "This was his first trip since the accident."
Pierce said her father's ability to do so through all six aircraft and street transfers was a true miracle that would not have happened without the help of Delta and airport personnel.
"A special thank you to the whole patient, wonderful street agents around the country and my perfect crew," she wrote on Facebook. "He did it on all aircraft and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas call)." [19659002]
