These 20 restaurants in the Bay Area are among the best in the world, according to Forbes

On Tuesday, Forbes Travel Guide released its 2022 star award winners, highlighting a number of top restaurants in the Bay Area that are considered among the “most outstanding” businesses around the world.

In its 64th annual list, which honored more than 250 restaurants worldwide, 20 fine restaurants in the Bay Area were recognized in the acclaimed guide to everything from their elegant cuisine to the beautiful ambience of each location. Atelier Crenn, Benu and Saison were among the five-star winners in San Francisco.

Beyond San Francisco where other top destinations such as Manresa in Los Gatos, Navio in Half Moon Bay as well as many in Napa and Sonoma County, which included chef Thomas Keller’s much acclaimed The French Laundry. Forbes also added restaurants that received four stars and others that were within the “recommended” section. Of San Francisco’s recommended Spruce restaurant, Forbes praised the moody decor and its delicious bits, but added that the kitchen and service could “suffer from bumps.”

The list of Forbes winners comes the same week as the James Beard Foundation announced its nominated media awards in which Brandon Jew, chef owner of Mister Jiu’s, and co-author Tienlon Ho were selected for their cookbook, “Mister Jiu’s in Chinatown: Recipes and Stories from the Birthplace of Chinese American food. ” Kristina Cho, a San Francisco author, and Bryant Terry, an Oakland vegan chef and author, were also nominated for their cookbooks.
