Trade union leaders are urging the government to intervene in the Thomas Cook crisis following news that the German airline's subsidiary of the travel giant is receiving funding to help secure a rescue deal.
Condor receives six months of funding from the German government, worth a reported £ 350 million, to continue operating.
Thousands of workers in the UK have lost their jobs and are facing a fight to receive any severance pay after Thomas Cook's departure business Monday.
Brian Strutton, Secretary General of the British Airline Pilots Association (Balpa) said: "Good luck to Condor staff and customers, but with holidaymakers in the UK stranded and 9,000 employees out of a job, Thomas Cook directors must explain why the British airline had to be shut down, but the German was allowed to continue operating.
