The stock market is falling; Dow gives up early wins
US stocks fell on Tuesday, giving up early gains and falling for the second day in a row, as investors analyzed recent economic figures for clues about the pace of monetary policy.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 470 points, or 1.5%, erasing a previous gain of 1.4%. The S&P 500 lost 2%, while the technology-focused Nasdaq Composite Index fell 2.8%.
