From ribs and pork chops to baked beans and asparagus, the list of grilled edible options is long, but as a nation our tastes are varied.
Residents of sixteen states prefer vegetables. The rest of the nation wants meat.
Would you believe that ribs are only #1 in five states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Connecticut and Texas)?
In all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, over the past week, BBQ chicken was the most searched for food, according to Google Trends data shared with USA TODAY on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the most searched type of BBQ sauce by state (34 of them) was homemade, Google data shows.

- Korean: Hawaii, California, Nevada, New Jersey, and Connecticut;
- Japanese: Washington, Oregon, South Dakota, Kansas and Alaska;
- Home team – all other states.
