Morgan Stanley, one of the largest investment banks in the world, announced that it considers the meta-verse to be the next major investment scheme, according to a note addressed to investors on Thursday. Metaverset is a concept that includes the construction of an alternative universe where individuals can model their image to what they want to be, and perform real tasks such as buying things, playing with friends and other activities.

The concept has already been grasped by companies trying to build their respective views on it. Facebook was renamed Meta to reflect this new focus, and Microsoft is also adding metaverse-themed elements to its products starting next year. Morgan Stanley strategist Edward Stanley stated:

It can fundamentally change the medium through which we socialize with others.

Companies want Piece of the Pie

Stanley stated that more and more companies are moving to include these activities and elements in their projects. Technology and gaming stocks are already profiting from this new trend in the market, including gaming universes like Roblox. Stanley emphasized:

The flow of news around the metaverse concept has been high and companies are embracing it in increasing numbers. Of all the main topics, companies and analysts have a greater interest in the meta-verse than any other topic at present.

However, the note also acknowledged that we are still in the early stages of this alternative world being built. While all of these initiatives are already beginning to take shape, the whole meta-verse is still years away, and it will require significant interoperation and collaboration from these companies for this world to exist. This will be possible when users can move their experiences and avatars from one platform to another, seamlessly.

Stanley also noted that most companies entering the metaverse trend come from three countries. The USA, China and South Korea are the countries most focused on activities and corporate launches regarding the meta-verse.
