The European Commission is preparing to launch a new survey for Amazon

The European Commission is preparing to launch a new US online shopping giant, Amazon, suspected of abusing sales data to the detriment of small vendors using the platform, according to Bloomberg Financial News Agency.

The survey would be part of a "summer offensive", which according to the EU Commission is responsible for competition, Denmark's Margrethe Vestager, against a number of companies, including Amazon.

The US giant suspects using information obtained from other online stores on the platform, for example, to identify the most popular products or consumer profiles.

Neither Amazon nor the Commission wanted to respond.

This would be the third time that Amazon has come under the control of the Commission. The European Executive Agency had already committed Luxembourg to recover EUR 250 million from the online giant for financial agreements signed in 2003. This case is still in the pipeline. Another issue had to do with e-books, but it didn't matter to Amazon.
