Tesla Model Y goes on the screen outside the Fremont seat manufacturer
Tesla recently had a model Y on-screen for employees looking outside its seat factory at 901 Page Street in Fremont, California, about three miles from the company's main factory. In images posted by several Reddit users, it appears that the same deep blue metallic model Y powered on stage and used for test stations at the car's interception event last month, was available in the parking lot for closer look.
The on-screen vehicle is equipped with a chrome-smooth trim, a look popular with the Tesla aftermarket, but a standard factory version for model Y. In addition, the all-electric crossover set of Tesla Sport Wheels in color is black. Tesla offers silver sports wheels as an option of $ 1[ads1]500 in the Model 3 and Model Y model configurators.
The final Model Y production site has not yet been determined, as noted by CEO Elon Musk during the Tesla Q1 2019 earnings call. He later realized that a decision that the case should be made within the next few weeks is the current conversation between the Fremont factory and Gigafactory 1 in Sparks, Nevada.
The space is limited in Fremont with Model S, Model 3, and model X lines already produced there, and in Tesla's Q4 2018 full-year update, Musk indicated that the company's Nevada plant may be the best production site for model Y. Musk jumping on the cracked structures, ie heavy "tents" resemble those used to extend model 3 production, could be an option if the room was limited where the Model Y was eventually made. "I'm a fan of tents, like real hardcore tents," Musk mused.
Tesla model Y is expected to be the highest volume production vehicle for the company when it goes on sale, even exceeding the mass market Model 3. In California, for example, Tesla was the highest-selling alternative fuel brand in 2018, and model 3 represented 55% of all battery-electric vehicle sales. The popularity of the crossover SUV market is driving future model Y sales forecasts, and Elon Musk has expected a demand and delivery plan equivalent to 1 million units per year.
The production of model Y is expected to take place at the end of 2020 with the first deliveries beginning shortly thereafter.
