Tesla Model 3 makes the BMW racer squeal in joy while riding a shotgun in a hot trap

BMW enthusiast and AR-G Motorsports boss Daniel Rose had spent a great weekend at Laguna Seca Raceway, with his team winning the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC). After the incident, one of his AR-G BMW M3 race drivers, Doug Makishima, decided to take his personal Tesla Model 3 Performance for a couple of rounds around the track. Just for fun, he invited Rose to ride the shotgun.

After intense driving in the team's race cars, Makishima and Rose's model 3 performance round was meant to be a bright and fun catch. The model 3 owner even connected the electric car's music. And then Tesla shot off the line, and before he knew it, the experienced BMW enthusiast and the motorsport manager felt he was pulled back to his seat. As the Model 3 performance slid smoothly and accelerated in full force out of a curve, Rose began to laugh . No, squealing is the more accurate word, which he graciously noted in a later Facebook comment.

During the Tesla Model 3 Performance, two laps around the track, and it almost sounded like he was in a roller coaster – just having fun with the car's crazy acceleration and speed and wondering over how planted Model 3 was despite its weight. As can be seen in the video, both driver and passenger had a great time ripping through the track. Rose's wife, who later watched the video, said she had never heard her react positively to a vehicle before.

Being a racecar driver, the two men actually ended up inserting a new record for stock electric cars in Laguna Seca. Prior to the race, the record for a stock EV in the course was 1: 46.8. Makishima and Rose recorded 1: 46.1 and a 1: 46.5 in model 3 performance, with passengers and with the music on. It is quite noteworthy that the two men managed an impressive round with a leg holding car. Model 3 performance had OEM tires, and the tire pressure was not even adjusted for closed circuit operation. Since the run was completed late, the temperature of the track was also lower than preferred. The vehicle also has no problems, save for warning of brake temperature.

Interestingly, Makishima's winning race in his purpose-built AR-G BMW M3 race car marked at 1: 37.9 in USTCC's Super Touring (ST) class. There is a hair slower than the time set by a Tesla Model 3 performance with upgraded brakes and suspension powered by Mountain Pass Performance owner Sasha Anis, who completed a 1: 37.5 round. Basically, the Model 3 Performance record setting was fitted with smooth tires while the Makishima's AR-G BMW M3 race car was not, but the performance of the two vehicles appeared to be incredibly close.

It looks like Elon Musk was not kidding when he said that Teslas is, besides being incredibly safe and well-designed vehicle, fun instruments.

Watch a prolonged BMW enthusiast and racer experience the Tesla Model 3 Performance around the track in the video below. Please make the video sound (It is really worth it).
