We don't really know how many Tesla Model 3s were sold in the US in January and February, but the car should be in the top 20. With less than a day to order Model 3 The Standard Range Plus for $ 37,000, I felt we still hadn't done enough to compare the current model 3 options with the other best-selling cars in the US. So, here's a new comparison focused on one central topic: 5 years total cost of ownership.
These costs are, of course, based on average, extrapolations from Tesla Model S-data and Edmunds total calculation cost. The actual results will vary depending on individual circumstances. For more background on the Model 3 assumptions, see this article.
Worth noting before looking at the cost comparison, is that the Tesla model 3 is much safer than any of these other top models (based on NHTSA tests), much faster than Some of these other top models have a completely different drive quality – a much better driving quality that even drives the drive quality to top luxury cars. With all this in mind, jump into the details (which I post as a table and then also in the image format with color gradient that highlights cost differences).
Model | 5 Years Ownership Cost (without Extra Features) | Savings (-) or Additional Costs (vs. Model 3 Standard) | Savings (-) or Extra Costs per Month (vs. Model 3 Standard) [19659012] Tesla Model 3 Standard | $ 33,644 | ] $ 0 | $ 0 |
