In this episode of our CleanTech Talk podcast interview series, Chanan Bos and I sat down with Zac from the hugely popular YouTube show Now you know. We talked almost entirely about Tesla, but also about the Now You Know show and some other cleantech topics. You can listen to the entire one-hour conversation in the built-in player below. Under the built-in SoundCloud player, I have also briefly summarized the topics we discussed – but not the many points we made. You really need to hear this time to follow the discussion.
You can subscribe and listen to CleanTech Talk on: Anchor, Apple Podcasts / iTunes, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Cloudy, Pocket, Podbean, Radio Public, SoundCloud, Spotify, Stitcher, or via the built-in SoundCloud player below.
In the first third of this podcast discussion, we talked about the start of Zac and his son Jeses "Now you know" YouTube channel, some of the things we love about their show, Tesla communication and marketing, Elon Musk leadership, Tesla delivery problems, an idea for a unique Tesla sales process, a potential 100% flow from stores and more. At the end of this section, I noted a quote from Ashley Vance's biography of Elon Musk, where Musk noted that the stores were merely a temporary solution. In other words, the idea for ditch shops has been years in the work!
In the second third of the discussion, we discussed some more of our personal stories with Tesla communication and the man himself (Elon), how Tesla's leadership has driven developments in the automotive industry and even in EV policy around if in the world (including in China), renewable energy, microgris (Zac had many fun things to say about microgrid), Tesla short sellers, Big Auto, Big Oil, "The Tesla Smear", the effect of so much FUD on the general consumer market and how or why the media is played so much.
In the last third of the podcast chat, we talked even more about consumer awareness, Tesla Model 3's total cost of ownership, Joe Rogan, Tesla Marketing (again), Elon Musk (again), Tesla Model 3 demand, Tesla's quarterly runways, Model 3 versus Model S, the crazy quality of the Tesla Model 3, a potential final Model 2, American pickup trucks, Rivian, and Tesla pickup truck.
Again, the summary of the basics just lists the topics we covered. To hear what we really had to say about them, listen to the show !
