Tesla has announced that all its inventory Model S and Model X today will be provided with Free Unlimited Supercharging, an advantage previously retired when the electric car manufacturer completed its long-term Referral Program. The Free Unlimited Supercharging offer runs until June 30, the end of the second quarter.
The update was posted on the company's official Twitter handles. "Important announcement (unless you like to pay for gas): All vans Model S and Model X cars now come with unlimited free supercharging. This ends June 30," wrote Tesla.
Free Unlimited Supercharging is Among the benefits Tesla offers to electric car owners for years, and eventually becomes a trademark symbol of the flagship Model S and Model X in the middle of the ramp to the higher volume model 3. It was also one of the benefits of Tesla's retired Referral Program, which included big prizes as the next generation Roadster Finally, when Tesla's car fleet grew, Elon Musk explained that Free Unlimited Supercharging was not very sustainable in volume production.
"Sorry, volume production is not very sustainable and promotes not optimal behavior. We should probably have finished this earlier, "noted Musk.
The offer made a comeback when Tesla launched its Referral Program earlier this year, but instead of unlimited Supercharger credits, the company offered 1000 miles of free Supercharging in place. The program later increased this to 5,000 miles to May 28.
Free unlimited enhancement may seem like a rather small advantage back when it was readily available, but today the benefits of the offer are incredibly prominent. An unparalleled pace, and as access to the company's charging stations becomes more limited, free unlimited overload is likely to be a rare commodity.
This benefit will probably be even more prominent among the improvements that Tesla rolls out on its Supercharger Network, such as the recently released 150 kW top-loading rates for the Model S and Model X in their V2 network. s, the Supercharging stops will translate to even less time from the road. These improvements are likely to make long-distance traffic more convenient for models S and X owners, and it is not necessary to pay for charging, which makes these journeys even better.
