Tesla is recalling more than 320,000 cars due to a software bug in the tail light

Electric car company Tesla has announced that it will recall more than 320,000 cars due to a problem involving taillights that can cause them to illuminate incorrectly.

The company made public filing on Saturday, saying more than 321,000 vehicles will be recalled because of a taillight problem that the electric vehicle maker said affects some 2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles.

The Texas-based automaker said it will deploy an over-the-air update to fix the taillight problem, and said it has no reports of crashes or injuries related to the recall.

The company said the recall followed customer complaints it became aware of in late October, mainly from overseas markets, claiming the vehicle̵[ads1]7;s rear lights did not illuminate.

The investigation found that in rare cases, the lights intermittently fail due to an anomaly that causes false fault detections during the vehicle’s wake-up process. Tesla said it had received three warranty reports about the problem.

The recall comes a day after the company announced it will recall roughly 30,000 Model X vehicles in the U.S. over a problem that causes the passenger-side airbag to deploy improperly, sending shares down nearly 3% to a nearly two-year low . .

Earlier this month, the company recalled more than 40,000 Model S and Model X vehicles in a move it said was because drivers were at risk of losing power on rough roads while using the power steering assist feature.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox Business.
