SAC METRO FIRE CREWS FOUND THE FLAME ON EASTBOUND HIGHWAY 50, IN RANCHO CORDOVA. IT TOOK TWO FIRE ENGINES, A WATER TENDER AND A LADDER TRUCK. 6,000 LITERS OF WATER WERE USED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE, AS THE CELL CONTINUED TO BURNING. FORTUNATELY NO DAMAGE WAS DAMAGED

Sacramento Metro Fire had to put out a fire on Highway 50 after a Tesla Model S car battery caught fire on Saturday. Metro Fire said the Tesla caught fire near Rancho Cordova while driving at freeway speeds and that it took 6,000 gallons of water for crews to extinguish the flames. Two fire engines responded and crews supported the vehicle with a jack to cool the battery.
