Target car seat filing event returns April 22

Mark your calendar: Target's popular car seat submission event returns on Earth Day.

From April 22 to May 4, target stores will accept and recycle car seats, including highchairs, convertible seats, car seats, harnesses or booster seats, the dealer announced in a statement.

In exchange for the old car seat, get a voucher for 20% off "a new car seat, car seat, travel system, stroller or select household equipment, such as playhouses, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers."

Sets can only be traded at a Target store at Guest Services. The coupons can be used in stores and online through May 11.

"As our guests increasingly look for products and experiences that are good for them, their families and the planet, we make it easy to have a positive impact on the environment through action programs," Target said in the statement.

The stores will accept expired or damaged car seats, and the materials will be recycled by Waste Management, Target said.

Since Target introduced its first car seat delivery program in April 2016, half a million car seats and more than 7.4 million pounds of material have been recycled.

How it works

• Target will accept all infant seats, convertible seats, car seats, harnesses or booster car seats and car seats, including seats that have expired or damaged.
• From April 22 to May 4, bring your car seat to Target's Guest Services and place it in the drop-off box.
• In exchange, you get a 20% discount coupon for use in stores and online through May 11.
• The coupon can be used on baby equipment, including a new car seat, car seat, travel system, stroller or select household equipment, such as play days, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers.
