Taco Bell debuts dedicated vegetarian menu across the country
Starting September 12, Taco Bell will add its own vegetarian menu to its more than 7,000 restaurants in the United States. In April, the chain first tested its vegetarian menu at locations in Dallas, before expanding them across the country. The menu – which highlights four of the current vegetarian options in one place, making it easier for customers to order meat-free meals – is Taco Bell's next step in exploring the growing demand for plant-based foods. "At Taco Bell, we believe that vegetarian food should not be a compromise; it should not be limited to one element, and it should not be just for vegetarians," said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell Global Chief Innovation Officer. "For years we have continually proven that our vegetarian menu options are so craveable that even non-vegetarians unconsciously become vegetables because they just love the taste. We are committed to building on this insight and plan to continue to develop in this growing space. “While Taco Bell will not add vegan meat options like those made by Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods, the chain currently offers a customizable menu of 26 certified vegan options. After launching the "How to Eat Vegan at Taco Bell" guide in 201[ads1]6, the chain reformulated its rice to be vegan-friendly, debuting a line of vegan chips designed to mimic hot sauce options.
