HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) – As both sides continue to negotiate and stores see fewer buyers, many ask what is happening to the purchased food in each store.

As striking Stop & Shop workers dodged raindrops on Monday, they looked at a lot where there were more puddles than parked cars.

"There are mixed feelings because you don't like to see it, but it's good to show the company how people are behind us," said Joe Renaldi, a Stop & Shop employee.

He said he has been with the company since graduating high school and is an assistant grocery manager.

Renaldi and his colleagues went off the job Thursday and have gone the Picket line for five days, and with fewer shoppers emerging, the food does not go off the shelves.

Stop & Shop says to maintain the safety and freshness of their products, is part of the contingency plans, and says "about food, We work with our regional food bank, as well as local food boxes, to donate as much food as possible to our neighbors in need. "
