US Car Sales: The actual car manufacturers are scheduled to report March-US sales figures on April 2. Edmunds expects automatic sales to fall 4.0% Y / Y during the month to 1.588M units. M & A tidbits: Merger closures are expected April 1 for Blue Hills Bancorp (NASDAQ: BHBK) -Independent Bank (NASDAQ: INDB), HomeTown Bankshares (OTC: HMTA) -American National Bankshares (NASDAQ: AMNB) and National Commerce (NASDAQ: NCOM) -CenterState Bank (NASDAQ: CSFL) deals. FCC Sprint Watch (NYSE: S) / T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) merger ticks again on April 4. There is a state hearing scheduled for April 5 at the settlement that allowed CVS Health (NYSE: CVS)
Buyback blues: The market is set to lose support for some buy-back actions next week, with 78% of S & P 500 in a so-called blackout period before earnings followed by 86% for the week of April 8. While many companies still repurchase shares through a SEC rule that allows for trading on a pre-plan basis, marketers believe that the blackout period ahead of the first quarter earnings could add volatility.
DC Matters: US House Ways and Means Committee is planning to vote next week on legislation to rework parts of the IRS and increase pension savings.
Macau Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau will publish the Macau gross gaming revenue figures for March in the first few days of April. Macau GGR is expected to fall during the month compared to a year ago, with forecasts from -6% to -3%. Variety believes that the incident could rub the debate on movie release windows and content agreements. Many of the common suspects such as Cinemark (NYSE: CNK), Warner Bros. (NYSE: T), Disney (NYSE: DIS), Amazon Studios (NASDAQ: AMZN), Universal (NASDAQ: CMCSA) and Dolby (NYSE: DLB) will be on CinemaCon, while Sony (NYSE: SNE) and Netflix (NASDAQ) : NFLX specially beats affair.
