US stock index futures indicated a flat open Tuesday as investors weighed ongoing trading negotiations with China along with strong earnings from Target.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also said Monday he believed the two countries were "on c usp" to reach an agreement that would end the trading circle.
"We are trying to get it fixed, get it fixed, do it fair and mutual, and you G think we're about to do that, and I hope all of these charges will go away, all these barriers, "Pompeo told KCCI television in Des Moines, attending a peasant conference.
Investors also welcomed stronger than expected quarterly results from the dealer Target, sending the shares up around 6 per cent. The company posted earnings per share of $ 1
Target's same store sales, a key metric monitored by Wall Street, rose 5.1 percent. The company also said its digital sales increased by more than 25 percent.
On the economic front, there will be services PMIs at 9.45. ET; new home sales at 10:00 ET and federal budget numbers released at 2:00 ET.
