Sprint and T-Mobile clear key barriers to the merger
Wireless operators have received approval from the United States Foreign Investment Committee, a government panel that trains certain agreements with foreign investors, says T-Mobile in a statement late Monday.
The company added that the US Department of Justice, Homeland Security and Defense has withdrawn an earlier request to delay the agreement.
If Sprint and T-Mobile merge, the number of wireless providers in the US will decrease from four to three with the new company competing with Verizon and CNN's parent company, AT & T.
